2019 Traffic Fatalities from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

This week the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet released its preliminary report on 2019 Kentucky road fatalities.  Unfortunately fatalities were up from 2018,  according to the report from the state transportation cabinet’s Office of Highway Safety. In 2019 there were 734 who died on Kentucky roads, which is up from the 724 who died in 2018.

Early numbers show 56 highway fatalities so far in 2020. This time last year saw 73 fatalities so hopefully that decrease continues the rest of 2020. Gov. Andy Beshear has a proposed $100 million plan to improve highway safety. Highway safety initiatives include guardrails, ride-share promotion, increased law enforcement during high travel times, and media partnerships, like Buckle Up Phone Down.
